I am concerned about allegations of Labour Party anti-Semitism. What Naz Shah said relates to a common perception that the US is maintaining Israel in the Middle East. Like many others I believe Israel has every right to remain in the land of its heritage, but I think what she posted was political, not anti-Semitic. You could draw a similar map for the Falklands, Gibraltar, Puerto Rico, etc.
As for Ken Livingstone, I have no idea whether Hitler ever supported Zionism, but it would have made perfect sense if he had, because it would have a way to persuade more Jews to leave Germany. In this case it seems to me that we are talking about history, correct or incorrect — not about Ken being anti-Semitic.
Just to make it clear, I am of Jewish heritage, and I have no intention of defending allegations against us of greed, long noses, economic control of the world, and so on!!
Some Jewish lives were saved by negotiations with the Nazi regime of terror. The Kindertransport that brought children to the UK were kindertransport because Britain didn’t want their parents. The attempt to associate Zionism with Nazism, by saying Hitler was a Zionist is a way to shift a burden of guilt – Jews are Nazis. Similarly to say that Hitler had Jewish ancestry.
I write out of a despondency I have never felt before. I am a rather easy going optimistic soul by nature. One, whose nearest and dearest were largely Jewish. I am just a granny now and most died too soon but I hold them in my heart and feel a need to reach out and keep trying to stop this madness. I can think of no better word for it. In fact it seems like that is Bibi’s strategy, to outcrazy Hamas.
You know you have a problem when Russian Israelis want to leave Israel, feeling life is better for them in Russia. And this was before Hamas attack. You know you have a problem when a third of the rest of Israelis are thinking of leaving and many seeking Visas or jobs. This, again, before Oct 7. You know you have a problem when a large group of Jews leave France to go to U.S. and U K., and israel only if they can’t get visas to either of the other two.
I am doing this off the top of my head and you can argue facts and figures but I don’t think you can argue trends and red flags. And please do not attack me for I know the risk I take even writing this. I have already been targeted. The crimes are wicked and I do not want to go there. I raise it simply so that you may better understand.
The self inflicted harm done by Jewish/Israelis for the purposes of, not even sure – defense, profit, control – is unimaginable. The Mossad for hire outfits here in London, the spyware such as Pegasus found to have infected countless journalists, civil rights workers, civil servants….now dead in places like Mexico. Khashoggi in Turkey…..Jeffrey Epstein’s blackmailing which I heard about the same night I met him at Windsor Castle…. the innocent people being harmed by all of this, families destroyed, elections interfered with, the smear campaigns, false charges, lost jobs and futures, civil rights abuse, censorship, general nastiness….where does it stop?
Please stop it. It is so wrong. The effect it is having is massive. I, for one, am starting to see it as the single greatest threat to democracy and civil society. I hate nobody. I just want to feel safe in my own country.
I know many Jews don’t feel safe. I understand that. But you have a place to run and a massive network, largely tax payer funded, to protect you. Those that are seriously being targeted do not. We never expected such things to happen, all with little attention, concern, or action. Only silence.
