We mourn the death of one of our signatories, Adah Kay. Adah was a very early and truly heroic pioneer of Jewish solidarity with Palestinian struggles for justice. In 2001, with her late husband Tom Kay, she went to live in Ramallah, working together with other Palestinians and their Jewish supporters, such as her friend Amira Hass, to promote peace and justice. Adah continued working indefatigably for Palestinian rights to the very end of her life, even as she bore the terrible sorrow of her husband’s death in 2007, and then her own serious illness. She published two significant and moving books on Palestinian struggles, Unfree in Palestine and Stolen Youth. Beautiful and impressive in all she did, Adah will be remembered as an exceptional Jewish voice for justice for the Palestinian people.
